My World Blog

I use this section of my Site to blog about various things. I might talk about a photo shoot that I went on, or make a comment about something I have seen or thought about. I might even go on a rant about something. Just an all around place to write stuff.

Jessica, Caleb & Baby Max

The last few days, I have been staying at some friends of my dads, they went on a camping trip, leaving us their house. Jessica, Caleb and baby boy max came up and spent 2 days with us. We had a wonderful time, we went to the zoo, had a birthday party for max. The zoo turned out to be a pretty nice zoo, and yielded several very nice photos. I had the opportunity to sit down with Jessica and teach here a little bit about her camera and even got some books two help her out.

Rhino Play

Dad and I went to the Oklahoma City Zoo today for a little exercise and some photos. I came across this baby Rhino playing in the mud next to its mother, just as cute as could be. He was having a ball nudging mom and rolling in the mud, looks like fun. I got a really cool shot of a Chimp who posed whit his arm on a log right in front of me, he wanted me to take his photos, it was very cool. I got a few really cool shots of some pink flamingos and a really cute Fox Panda. The last zoo I was in, was Boise Idaho, but I really like the Oklahoma Zoo a lot more. I really enjoyed myself out there taking shots of the animals.

Thats all for now,

God Bless

NSRA Final Day

Today is the last day of the NSRA show in Oklahoma City, sad to see it go. There were some very nice cars out there, among them this 1962 Impala. I really liked this car, I loved the color, the wheels and the motor, I would drive it. I feel really strongly that dads car would have won an award of some sort, had he been able to drive it out here. There were a lot less cars at the show on the last day, probably because they didn't win an award or something. The awards ceremony started about 2:00 and every one was excited since they were giving away three three thousand dollar awards. Dad and I heard them announce the winner of the car that had driven the furthest and turns out it was a person in Fair Oaks California. We would have taken that award since we lived further then they did, if only we had the car.

NSRA Day 2

The Second day of the NSRA show, we got there before 8 AM and there were already a lot of cars setup and showing off. There were thunderstorms off to the north of town showing off now and again, but it was looking ok for the time being. Dad and I wondered around for several hours, he looking and me shooting. I was standing there looking across the way at a nice looking car when I noticed lightning to the SW and it was headed right for us. Dad and I made a b-line for the buildings, hoping to get a spot to sit down and ride out the storm before everyone else decided to do the same thing. About 10 minutes later, I saw a flash

NSRA Opening Day

We arrived at the NSRA show about 8:15 and got up front parking, always a joy. Cars were lining up to get in the show, all ready to show off their goods. The car pictured above was a awesome specimen, a 1955 Chevy classic complete with flag waving in appreciation. We walked around the show for several hours taking in some seriously gorgeous cars, trucks and everything in between. We ran across several very nice 58 Impala's that were pretty much mostly stock, nothing that looked even close to nice as dads. There were a serious

Memorial

Dad drove me all over the city today looking at all the places that he lived, places that past girlfriends dads or brothers worked at and pointed out all the Sonic's in town since there seems to be a ton of them in Oklahoma. I saw several schools that he went to, and some of the places that he worked growing up. I saw the house he lived in when I was born, also the house we lived in the first time I tried to run away, I must have been 6 or 7 LOL! Most of the places were not looking all that good anymore, but age does that to just about everyone and everything I guess.

Nadder Night

Dad and I got up around 6, got some breakfast and hit the road about 7. It was about 250 miles from Amarillo to Oklahoma City, and we wanted to get there by lunch time. The drive from Amarillo was pretty nice, there was lots of huge wind turbines to watch spin as the wind was whipping up pretty good. I found the last part of Texas kind a refreshing as it went from flat to rolling hills with peeks and valleys. Once you get across the border into Oklahoma, the scenery changes to green pastures, so I guess the saying is true to some degree. We passed the place where Garth Brooks was born, lives or something, but they made a big todo about it.

The Crater

Work up at early this morning looking to take a nice shower before starting the day, only to find that the hotel had no hot water, I almost took a cold shower, but that water was way to cold. I decide to make a cup of coffee in the little coffee maker in the room, only to find that the creamer I

Wind Power

Dad and I took of for Oklahoma this morning about 5am in the Hot Rod, only to turn around due to carburetor problems. Disappointed, we decided to drive the Honda instead, determined to enjoy the time even though we didn't have a show car. Back on the road about 7AM, we headed up Highway 5 in route to our overnight stay in FlagStaff Arizona. Just out of Bakersfield, we came a cross a couple of mountainsides full of hundred of wind turbines, with all but a couple of the spinning.

Oklahoma or Bust

Dad and I are driving the 58 back to Oklahoma to show the car in the NSRA show. Im looking forward to driving the car and seeing family. I really enjoy driving the car, its a really neat feeling when people pass you and give you thumbs up, or someone yells "Nice Job, Looks great". It fills you with a sense of accomplishment, and pride, although I dad did most of the work, I more or less just helped hold stuff and hand him tools when needed.
